What's the Fuss? Why The World Loves to Talk About Miley's Hair

The Miley Cyrus we knew on Disney is long gone. The former Hannah Montana star that inspired girls around the nation teamed up with producer Pharrell Williams to inject her new rebel image into her music. In a bid to shed her innocent star image, the singer/actress took an extreme haircut and dyed her hair platinum blonde. This new look spurred a lot of talk as people began to see the real Miley.

Miley’s Haircut Inspired by a Jonas Brothers Wig
Miley told V magazine that the Jonas Brothers were a source of inspiration for her first haircut. She revealed that the idea of cutting her hair took effect after wearing a wig with a Jonas swoop. She liked the look of the short do and went for it.

Two weeks after wearing the wig, Miley had her hairstylist Chris McMillan shape her new do, and Pharell was the first to hear of the new makeover.

According to Cyrus, the new cut signaled her determination to change and to be different. And she certainly achieved what she set out to do. The new image, including the haircut, took the world by storm. While some people are all for it, a lot more people expressed their disapproval of Miley’s new image. But according to Miley, she’s not looking for other people’s opinions – she loves the new look and that’s all that matters. Subscribe to satellite TV at www.ExpertSatellite.com and get a firsthand look at celebrities with edgy haircuts.

Miley Reveals The Secret To Her Long Hair
Miley’s healthy brown hair became her trademark as the star of Hannah Montana. But Miley set the record straight, and no doubt disappointed her fan base when she revealed that her brown hair came down to extensions.

She pointed to a picture on the front page of Harper’s Bazaar – taken many years before – and reflected that it was a simple life then. But that simple life included 350 extensions in her hair. The hair was not real – at least not hair that grew out of her head.

Miley Loves Her Short Hair
While there’s a lot of buzz about the singer’s daring, edgy cut, Miley claims that she has no regrets. In fact, she loves it so much that she can’t imagine ever going back to having long hair. Women would agree that longer hair is more versatile. The problem is that most women style their long hair in a ponytail or bun. According to Cyrus, a bold new haircut is the best way to get out of a hairstyling rut.

A stylist suggested that Miley can always switch her look and add extensions if she wants to go long again. But according to the singer, that is out of the question because she hates extension. She goes so far as to say that they’re creepy.

The new style is low maintenance – just wash and wear. Miley claims it’s easier than that because the style looks fabulous even when it goes unwashed.

So as some onlookers lament the loss of Miley’s long hair, others are getting used to it because it’s here to stay.

5 Easy Hairstyles for Work

Looking good every day is pretty hard. Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you just don’t have it in you to spend time doing your hair. This is fair, and here are a few easy ways to deal with that problem.

Loop Ponytail

This is simple, five minute and above all manageable hairstyle that can give you a clean cut look and make it look like you went the extra mile on a simple hairstyle First spray your hair smooth with hairspray, then pull your hair back into a ponytail and secure it with elastic. Use your fingers to separate your hair above elastic and create a hole that is centred above it. Pull the ponytail through the hole and pull it taut. Smart, simple, professional.

DIY Ballerina Bun

If you need to look elegant and like you really tried with your hair without wasting the effort this is a hairstyle that really makes it look like you care. Flip your hair into a high ponytail, use a holder to secure. Use a smoothing brush to tease your hair to give the illusion of volume, alternately if you don’t have the hair volume a BioTHIK treatment may be worth considering. Next, twist your hair and wrap it around the base to create the shape. Secure this with bobby pins until you can shake your head without slipping. Then just smooth the hair down.

Bubble Ponytail

This will give a bouncy excitable and cheerful image to a hairstyle and will make you seem lively and fully energized. First pull your hair into a ponytail, tease out the length, starting at the hair tie. Then tie another elastic band around the ponytail about a third of the way down from the base, then another about two thirds of the way down. Finally slide the elastic bands toward the base. This should bunch things up and create bubbles.

Chignon Twist

A twisted chignon can pull of an elegant look and project a simple no-fuss attitude that will make you look intense and focused. First, get your hair straight and tie a low ponytail. Then twist the ponytail, if you’re feeling energetic divide it into separate sections and wrap them around each other. Then secure them with another hair band. Curl the twisted hair around the base of the ponytail. Once there’s a full circle around the base, pin the other end of the ponytail to your head.

Knot Ponytail

This is another cool twist on a basic ponytail that you don’t’ have to wrestle with. Divide your hair in half and tie it in a double knot. Secure the knotted ponytail with an elastic band and a couple of pins, then just tease the end, done and dusted no fuss muss and only two minutes work.

So if you’re running late, or you just don’t feel like really fixing your hair on the way out of the door, this is a quick way to get things done.

4 Ways To Colour Your Hair Without Using Chemicals

4 Ways To Colour Your Hair Without Using Chemicals

Natural Hair Dye Methods

Everybody changes their hair colour now and again, often accompanied by a new haircut, or done simply to cover some unwanted grey or white hairs. Many people do not exactly know the chemicals used in hair dyes, however nobody really wants to use things that can be damaging to their health.

Why Should You Use Natural Hair Dye

Using natural hair dye is the safest way to colour your hair without receiving harmful effects such as allergic reactions, respiratory disorders, and even cancer. Some hair dyes can be marked ‘natural’, but do in fact contain harmful chemicals such as ammonia, peroxide, resorcinol, and even PPD. PDD contains a very harmful toxin that can cause an allergic reaction.

How Does Natural Hair Dye Work?

Natural hair dyes work progressively, over a period of time, although some more potent hair dyes, such as walnuts and coffee, can work almost immediately. Natural hair dyes usually need to be used more than once to obtain a consistent desired result, although some ingredients can work almost immediately.

Options For Natural Hair Dye

There are a couple of options useful for naturally dyeing your hair, most of which work quite well. These include lemons, walnuts, coffee, and vegetable juice.

    • Lemons help to lighten or add highlights to hair, and are used an effective natural bleach. It works more slowly for people with darker hair, however its effectiveness can be intensified by exposing hair to sunlight.

    • The use of walnuts is a more popular way to colour hair. By using walnut hulls and walnut powders, you are able to dye your hair quite easily. Crush walnut hulls down and coat them with boiling water, leaving them for three days. Alternatively, add a few tablespoons of black walnut powder, into boiled water. To achieve a darker colour, allow the mixture to soak for a couple of hours longer than you usually would.

    • Coffee is a more generally used to darken the hair. The effect is created by allowing the coffee to seep into your hair and then rinsing or dipping certain parts of your hair you wish to darken.

Natural juices such as beet and carrot can be used to add red tints to your hair colour.?

They work separately or together, and as often as necessary to reach the colour you want. Beet juice hair dye is a great way to create a strawberry blonde colour, and works more effectively after leaving the dye in for around 60 minutes.

Testing Natural Hair Dyes

Before testing out any of these natural hair dyes, it is advisable to test one, or all of them, on a small section or simple strand of your hair. Make sure you find out how your natural hair dye will react with a previously used chemical hair dye, in case of a bad reaction.

If you're more about just your natural hair colour but can't seem to get it thick enough or full enough check out websites like transitionhair.com.au or other hair loss clinics to regain that mane and if you want to change colours stick with all these natural hair colours to keep your hair healthy.

5 Reasons to Wear a Wig

At some point in every woman’s life, she has the opportunity, or the need, to try on a wig or wear a hairpiece. Sometimes it might be for a school play or recital. It might be for a Sweet 16 Party, prom or for some lucky girls, their Debutante Ball. Everyone has worn some type of wig for Halloween.

Depending upon their style preference, some women like a nice up-do for their wedding, which can be styled using a hairpiece. And both girls and women faced with cancer treatments or other hair loss issues related to health need a wig for several months during chemotherapy and recovery.

Synthetic hair is less expensive than human hair, but real hair wigs are easier to style. Price ranges can be from as little as $25 for a clip in extension to $1,000 for fully styled, hand woven human hair. For the most part, the inexpensive, synthetic wigs and hair pieces are mostly for costume wear, the more expensive ones are for every-day casual wear.

Here are five reasons women wear wigs:

1.  Fashion and Special Events – Wigs for the sake of fashion and special events are the fun and frivolous ones. These let you try a totally different color, cut or length from your normal hair and are only used once in a while. Hair pieces let you easily add a flirty, bouncy ponytail or extra height. You can add a streak of blonde or go crazy with bright pink or peacock blue for a fun night out. Halloween and masquerade balls are great reasons to have fun with a totally different style for the night.

2.  Illness and Medical Treatments – There are illnesses that result in thinning or balding, which is very embarrassing for women. Of course, chemotherapy can wipe out all the hair on your head, including eyebrows and eyelashes. Full head wigs help add a sense of normalcy to your appearance will going through treatment and recovery. This can affect women and girls of all ages and wigs help restore some of the self esteem lost to medical conditions and side effects.

3.  Aging or Hereditary Factors – As women age, their hair changes. Not only does it go gray, but hair changes texture and gets thinner due to decreasing levels of hormones. Rather than the constant expense and time involved with color treatments, some women turn to wigs for every day wear.

4.  Performance Arts – Theater loves dramatic costumes, makeup and hair. Wigs can turn a mousy brown haired actress into the beautiful blonde Marilyn Monroe, or the exotic Cleopatra. Nicki Minaj created her signature look by wearing her pink wig during concerts. Wigs allow a chorus line of showgirls to all have the same color and style of hair. And the use of wigs along with costume changes can make the same actress appear to be several different characters in the same play or production.

5.  Versatility – Women who like to mix things up can use wigs and hair pieces to temporarily change their entire appearance. A wardrobe of different wig colors and styles can give you a new look quickly and easily. Some like to have a short cut for days in the office, then slip on a sexy, long hair wig for a night out on the town or clubbing.

Women who are blessed with long natural hair who are ready for a new, short cut can donate their hair to one of several charities who make wigs available to cancer patients. Locks of Love, Wigs for Kids and Children With Hair Loss all welcome donated hair. Some of the organizations will not accept color treated or permed hair, but others do. Find an organization online that lets you donate hair for wigs and read their website FAQs or instructions, then take the instructions with you to the hairdresser so they know what is needed for that particular organization.

Hair Styling Tips for the Average Joe

Hairstyles, when properly chosen and cut, can flatter any woman. The wrong haircut can seriously damage your look. Beautiful and well-managed hair symbolizes the natural beauty and self-management skills of an individual.

For example, thin and lifeless hair can be cut and styled so that it won’t look limp and dull. When it comes to cutting and styling, layering does the trick. Layering hair gives off the illusion that you have a thicker head of hair than you actually do. A healthy diet, good sleeping pattern and a relaxed way of life also contribute to glowing and healthy hair.

Celebrity Styling Tips From the Pros
You can also take the lead with some celebrity styling hair tips. For example, if you suffer from dandruff, you can grind an aspirin to mix into your shampoo once or twice a week. Dandruff shampoos on the market today are well known for stripping away pigments from color treated hair or even dulling out natural colors. The aspirin will get the dandruff out without any side effects on your strands.

You can use baby powder on your roots when you feel that your hair is a little bit on the greasy side. Models and actresses who are in between shampoos have often worked with a stylist that will dust a little bit of baby powder onto their scalp and then blow dry out and style as usual. The baby powder works to absorb a good amount of the excess oil that is on the scalp at the root area.

Deciding on a Haircut
1. Talk with your salon professional about your hair type and the particular cut that will not only work well with the amount of hair that you have to work with, but also with your facial structure.

2. Do your research. Look at magazines for hairstyles that catch your eye. Try out websites that allow you to upload your picture and try different hairstyles and colors.

3. Before you finalize a new hair styling cut, it is important to consider your overall body shape and personality. Remember, the new hairstyle must compliment your looks and body. If it looks good on your face, it would definitely enhance your overall personality.

4. Consider your way of life, but be open to change. You would be surprised how much a hair color change or highlights can change your hairstyle and improve your over-all look.

5. After the hair cut, ask your hairstylist on how to style your hair so that it looks exactly the same as he styled it. Ask for products you can use to help maintain your hairstyle outside of the salon. Keeping a good line of communication open with your stylist will help you to achieve an overall look that you can be happy with.

How To Know If What You Are Buying Are Real Hair Extensions

A guide on how to determine if what you are buying are real hair extensions.

clip_image002
Nowadays, it is not unusual for a lot of people to wear hair extensions. Although the use of hair extensions first became popular among celebrities, it is now common practice for any salon to offer hair extensions. The growing popularity of hair extensions can be attributed to the number of people who prefer longer and fuller hair which can be quite difficult to achieve because it can take a while to grow long healthy hair. For some people who prefer short hair, hair extensions provide them with the flexibility to sport a longer hairstyle during special occasions.

However, if you want your hair to look natural even when you are wearing hair extensions, it is important to get real hair extensions. Among the highest quality hair extensions are Remy hair extensions but if you do not have the budget for it, there are cheap human hair extensions that you can buy, you just have to know how to tell if they are human hair or not.

Contrary to what you may think, if the hair feels smooth and soft to the touch it does not necessarily mean that it is human hair. Unfortunately, the texture of the hair in your hair extensions is not enough to be able to determine whether they are real hair or not. There are many synthetic hair extensions that feel as soft and smooth to the touch but you will be surprised that they are actually made from animal hairs such as those of sheep, horses, and angoras, among others.

To determine whether your hair extensions are made from real human hair or not, below is a guide to help you out.

1. Remove a strand from the hair extension.

2. Use a lighter and carefully light up one end of the strand that you removed.

3. Take note of the smell and how the strand burned up. If it smells bad and burns slowly, then you have real human hair. If it melts into a ball and does not produce any smell, then you probably have synthetic hair.

Synthetic hair will not hold up to straightening, curling, or coloring unlike human hair which you can style any way you want. You have to be careful with using a curling iron or a straightening iron is you do not know whether your hair extensions are real or synthetic because synthetic hair will just melt if subjected to intense heat. The styling versatility of real human hair extensions is one of the reasons why a lot of people prefer them.

To get the highest quality of real human hair extensions, make sure you buy them only from trusted and reliable distributors. LeeBeauty.com offers a wide selection of genuine real hair extensions that looks and feels like your natural hair.

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray

I remember using those stronghold hairsprays back in the '80s that use to hold my bangs. It was kinda funny to see my old photos but that's the fashion back then. These days, I love the wavy and messy hairstyle that doesn't need to be so neat.

This Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray has a medium hold and can be used for blow-drying, controlling, protecting from heat, adding volume, lifting, setting, and finishing any style and perfect to use by hairdressers. Available at SEPHORA.COM

I Hope This Wavy/Messy Hairstyle will Suit Me

I've been meaning to have this kind of hairstyle but I'm afraid my type of hair will not suit this kind. You see I have thick strands of hair and if the hairstylist will make it wavy for sure it will double the size ..lol. I just hope that one day I can have this kind of cut for I see this as fun and chic.
